New Resources on Health for Social Care Staff

Resources for social care staff

The PHE Learning Disabilities Observatory has published a new set of resources and information for social care staff about how to help people with learning disabilities get better access to medical services to improve their health.

This includes the recently updated health charter for social care developed in partnership with the Voluntary Organisations Disability Group. The health charter, accompanying guidance and self-assessment tool provide information about the steps organisations and providers can take to improve the health and wellbeing of the people they support. There are practical tips about how to go about this as well as links to further information and resources that may be useful.

There is also a series of short information sheets and matching slide sets about how social care staff can support people with learning disabilities to have better access to health services. They provide an introduction to each area and links to where further information and useful resources can be found.

We are running a thirty minute webinar about the updated Health Charter on Tuesday 21st November at 12:30pm. If you would like to join this webinar then please email LDT@phe.gov.uk and we will send you an invitation.
