What is Makaton? It is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people to communicate. It is designed to support spoken language and the signs and symbols are used with speech, in spoken word order.

Learn 40+ signs and symbols to get you started with Makaton. Great for people working with early years and for people who need a basic vocabulary.

At the end of the session participants should have the confidence to start to introduce Makaton into their daily interactions with other children and adults. Participants will have awareness of further Makaton training available.

Mentoring and expert guidance will be provided by an experienced WEA and regional Makaton tutor.

They also offer a 4 session Makaton course which will follow this taster session (Tuesday 13th June to 4th July 2017, 10:00-14:00, 4 sessions - £48 or free to students on certain benefits).
