Mates ‘n’ Dates is part of Guideposts, a small charity based in Witney Oxfordshire providing community based social care.
As part of Guideposts, Mates ‘n’ Dates is a specialist friendship and dating service for people over 18 who have a learning disability. The Mates ‘n’ Dates service provides a safe, supported environment for members to meet new people and socialise. They have had 4 marriages and plenty of relationships and friendships, and thanks to their Mates ‘N’ Dates supporters, they now have over 350 members from across Oxfordshire.
Each year they host a formal ball for 200 people, which this year is taking place on the 27th October at Jury’s Inn Oxford. As part of the ball their members like to hold a raffle which helps to raise funds for future events.
As they are a charity, they rely heavily on donations.
Some of the areas they need your help with this year:
- Bottles of sparkling wine, or soft sparkling drinks to toast Chris Jones, the late founder of Mates ‘n’ Dates.
- Raffle prizes – big or small
- Gifts to present their 20 volunteers at the ball to say thank you for their continued support of the event.
- ‘Favours’ for the people attending the ball.
EVERY donation they receive is greatly appreciated. If you are interested, please contact Mark Garwood, Mates n Dates Co-ordinator , at matesndates@guideposts.org.uk or call him on 01993893583 / 07912994165
