This is a University of Oxford approved study which offers free, brief psychological support for parents of children with a learning disability. The study focuses on parents from Black, Asian, or other ethnic minority backgrounds, who often experience higher levels of stress and burnout and face barriers to accessing support.
The BRIDGE-LD Study (Burnout Relief Intervention for Diverse Guardians of Learning-Disabled Youth) has full ethical approval from the University of Oxford Central University Research Ethics Committee (MS IDREC 819388).
All sessions are delivered online by a trainee clinical psychologist under supervision.
Parents who take part receive:
- Four free one-to-one online therapy sessions (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
- One follow-up session
- Sessions scheduled flexibly around family commitments and last no longer than one hour
- £25 (maximum) total in vouchers for completing brief questionnaires
